Dover Comic Con

The Dover Public Library started the Dover Comic Con as an end of the year party for their student summer reading program. Now, Dover Comic Con has quickly grown into a free citywide community event! This year the Delaware State News has taken over management of the event to help with the increasing crowd size. There's something for everyone with over a hundred vendors, a cosplay competition, and panel discussions throughout the day. Mark your calendars for August 17th, 2019! Please check back closer to the event date for information on all of the great events we’ll have planned this year!

Ice Cream Festival - Author Alley

Our vision for this year’s Old Fashion Ice Cream Festival is a celebration of the history of New Castle County with a vintage feel and an atmosphere that will encourage patrons to unplug and enjoy time with family and friends. We are looking for great hand-dipped and homemade ice cream vendors, fantastic food (who can do Turkey Legs?), but also handmade crafts, historical demonstrations, and unique wandering performers.

Architecture and World Building - Balticon Workhop

  • Renaissance Baltimore Harborplace Hotel - Guilford (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

The Fantasy genre is a rich and symbolic genre that has endless avenues to express a story. One of those avenues is the very physical world the story takes place in. This workshop will focus on implementing architecture, maps, urban planning, and history into a novel or series.

Drawing a simple map and giving names to places is never enough. Those places need to be there. How are they involved in the world you’ve created? Better yet, should they belong? Every castle/city/kingdom deserves a personality of its own. Writing that a castle has crenelations and stone battalions is no different than any other castle. What makes that castle in that city unique? Join Ryan as he shares his joint passions: Writing and Architecture.
